The Domestic Abuse Development Partners (DADP) project is a five-year project (2022-2027) co-funded by Cripplegate Foundation and City Bridge Trust to explore how a relational approach can improve the experiences and outcomes for people impacted by domestic abuse.
Led by a coalition of two statutory sector and four voluntary sector partners working in the field: Islington Council, Islington Police VAWG Department, Solace, The Maya Centre, Maa Shanti and the Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation (KMEWO), the project will explore and test how and where systemic changes can be made to domestic abuse services to improve people’s access and journey through them.
A representative with lived experience of VAWG from each charity group will form part of the coalition as equal partners (specifics of their participation TBC). Voluntary sector partners and residents will both be paid to participate.
A learning partner, Ratio, will work with us throughout the five-year journey to capture the learning and to evaluate and analyse the impact of how a relational approach can improve services. Ratio will lead on monitoring and evaluation, setting group guidelines and facilitating the participations of members with lived experience (as part of main group or separately).
DADP’s overarching aim is to achieve better outcomes for survivors of violence against women. Specific objectives will be established by all participating members during the course of the meetings
The project follows on from the five-year How Not What Project with our development partners. The relational approach and resources developed during this project will be a useful resource. How Not What is about “building relationships in which everyone feel human and nourished. It is about meeting people as equals, rather than transactions to be completed.”
