Our Approach
We strive for best practice in our grant-making and welcome feedback from grantees and applicants so we can improve our programmes, policies and processes. Our key principles are:
- All applicants are visited by our Programme Team staff so that we can understand your organisation and work and discuss your application
- We aim to offer multi-year funding to successful applicants, typically for 2 or 3 years
- We are committed to funding core costs to ensure groups have the resources and capacity to support local residents and to contribute to the stability of the voluntary sector. Our key programmes offer either core costs or project funding
- Our priority is to learn alongside groups we support. We ask grantees to send feedback. This helps us understand evolving needs and issues in Islington.

Advice and networking
- We offer advice to groups we work with to give them the best chance of a successful funding bid.
- We work to connect groups to useful networks, other funding sources and non-financial support such as business volunteers.
- We take a proactive approach to funding. We are keen to talk to groups working in Islington to deepen our understanding and to share knowledge and networking opportunities.
