How they help

Culpeper is a community garden close to the Angel, open every day of the year. Local residents of varying ages come together to maintain the gardens whilst socialising. In the borough with the least green space this is an important urban oasis.

Further information

In August 2019, Culpeper shared some reflections on their relationships with funders, including Cripplegate Foundation and Islington Giving. They discuss how funders can relieve pressure on smaller organisations by having a more equitable relationship. You can read more about this on the IVAR website.

We spend a lot of time and energy drafting endless applications, which could be put to better use elsewhere if relationships with funders were stronger and more transparent. Take Cripplegate for example: they’ve offered us funding through Islington Giving and proactively came to us, so we can be more open about what the challenges are.
