Over 38 partners came together on 18 January for the twice-yearly Resident Support Scheme (RSS) partners meeting.

The RSS provides vital financial support for local people who are facing financial hardship or going through an exceptional situation, offering short term help with a range of things from essential household items to housing costs and crisis packages. Managed by Islington Council, Cripplegate Foundation contributes to the fund and helps to develop its offer.

Two key areas discussed were the work of the RSS team during the pandemic and how partners have continued to support residents through the crisis including challenges and learning.

On the horizon, the RSS team was planning a review of the RSS application form to make it easier to navigate and to update some of the information – which goes back many years. Referrer partners were encouraged to share ideas and thoughts to help improve the online application – as they continue to complete applications for clients in the weeks ahead.

We are committed to ensuring that the Resident Support Scheme can continue to be a key element of the local support structure for residents.
