Julia Unwin CBE (Chair of the Independent Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society, Carnegie UK Trust Fellow, and former CEO of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation) has authored a new report raising key questions around the role of kindness in public policy and how technological advancements in society could directly affect this in the future.

The report examines ‘Two Lexicons of Public Policy’. The ‘Rational’ lexicon includes terminology relating to value, measurement, and resource implications. The ‘Relational’ is concerned with feelings, narratives, and identity. The report warns against total reliance on either language, advocating for integration between these two dialogues. This will help to apply rational measurment and evaluation to initiatives that are carried out with kindness and care.
