Over breakfast on Tuesday 2nd July, people representing 10 Islington Resident Support Scheme (RSS) partners came together to discuss the Scheme, and share their thoughts on local responses to urgent need.

The RSS provides vital financial support for local people who are in crisis, or who need support with housing and council tax costs. Managed by Islington Council, Cripplegate Foundation contributes to the fund and helps to develop its offer.

Together with Islington Council staff, we spoke with representatives of partners such as Age UK, Clarion Housing, Help on Your Doorstep, Islington Law Centre, Single Homeless Project, and Solace Women’s Aid. Reflecting with a diverse range of partners helps us learn more about the effectiveness and reach of the Scheme.

We discussed what’s working, and what could be improved, whilst also taking time to reflect on the changing contexts, and challenges, such as the rollout of Universal Credit, for people living in Islington.

We are committed to ensuring that the Resident Support Scheme can continue to be a key element of the local support structure for residents.
