Last month, Cripplegate Foundation was pleased to welcome colleagues from 15 organisations to our second RSS partners’ meeting. All regularly refer residents to Islington’s Resident Support Scheme (RSS). The RSS provides vital financial support for local people who are in crisis, or who need support with housing and council tax costs. Managed by Islington Council, Cripplegate Foundation contributes to the fund and helps to develop its offer.

The RSS team, from LBI and Cripplegate Foundation, are keen to get feedback on how the RSS is working for Islington residents, and these meetings are an opportunity to hear directly from partners using the scheme.

Representatives of partners including Clarion Housing, Islington Law Centre, Single Homeless Project, LBI Customer Care, Peabody, and Hyde Housing shared their thoughts on how the RSS could be improved. In turn, the RSS team were pleased to feedback that, as a result of our last meeting, the RSS is now offering a crisis award for people fleeing domestic violence which includes some items for babies and young children. Also, as a result of that meeting, the RSS can now offer residents a different, high backed chair, more suitable for older people or those with mobility issues.
